Pink palaces perched on the edge of the Sahara Desert are framed by the snow-capped Atlas Mountains in the hinterland. Magic and noisy gossip fills the air; hawkers and snake-charmers ply their trades in this cornucopia, created hundreds of years ago as a trading post for nomads. Today, it is a bustling, energetic, vibrant city, full of intrigue and passion.

Marrakech may be an ancient city but it is definitely “on the up” and now, it is firmly on the calendar for Acetours.eu.

We have taken an allocation of rooms on 21 March 2024 for one week, with accommodation at the excellent Iberostar Club Palmeraie, a short distance out of the city. Mediterranean gardens stretch across ten or so hectares, boasting three pools, one of which is for “adults only”. The hotel boasts a number of bars, a fitness centre and spa, shops and two restaurants, one featuring an international buffet and the other offering up Moroccan cuisine.

Oh! By the way, it’s “all-inclusive”, so you need very little spending money! When you book, we'll give you all the notes regarding money, safety of valuables, food, water, etc. etc..

We offer a selection of excursions; a trip into the Atlas Mountains or an excursion to Ouarzazate, gateway to the Sahara and location of the Atlas Film Studios. The hotel tour desk offers safaris through the desert, Marrakech city tours, quad biking and camel riding, hot-air ballooning….the list goes on!

EXCURSIONS

Morning tour of Marrakech and Bahia Palace

This morning, we will leave the hotel by private coach around 09.30am. It's about 25 minutes to the city and we'll see some of the sights en-route to the Bahia Palace. It's about 5-10 minutes walk from the drop-off area. The palace, when it was built in the 18th Century was supposed to be the greatest of all time. When you admire the stunning mosaics and architecture, you'll understand why! We spend about 30-40 minutes here before setting off through the back-streets and souks to the main square Jemaa el-Fnaa.

Here we'll have the opportunity to have some lunch, either at your leisure, or with your guide, Alan.

Evening visit to Jemaa el-Fnaa

Enjoy the sights and sounds, the hustle and the bustle of Marrakech's main square at dusk. Snake charmers and street artists, mingle with hawkers and traders, whilst the smell of spices and incense pervade the air.

We take an afternoon shuttle bus the the city and first port of call is the co-operative market, where you'll get quality products at fixed prices. Whilst there is little or no bartering here, there is plenty of repartie with the traders. We'll walk on to the Jemaa el-Fnaa, where we can spend an hour or so enjoying the atmosphere. Return to the hotel for your evening meal.
