Mayrhofen

Tucked up, high in the Zillertal Valley, Mayrhofen is world-famous for its winter sports but is also a magnet for summer visitors. There is such a host of things to do. The town itself is a mecca for shoppers and has a host of restaurants, cafes and bars. Every evening there is live entertainment somewhere in the town or region and during the day we have a great selection of excursions and activities. Guests to the beautiful Zillertal Valley have an almost endless choice of sporting activities during their summer holidays: hiking, climbing, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, white water rafting, canyoning, summer tobogganing, tennis and much more are all widely available. It is also absolutely ideal for those with a less athletic disposition and is perfect for relaxation. Your ActivCard will enable you to travel on all the local railways, bus routes and cable-cars. Enjoy a ride on the Zillertalbahn to the lovely little town of Zell am Ziller; travel on to Schutters or even Jenbach; or take the local bus up to Gerlos, high in the mountains. Relax in one of six wonderful swimming facilities and receive discounts off sauna and treatments. Check out the local cafes and restaurants to see how their Apfelstrudel compares. Enjoy some musical entertainment throughout the town, come sundown. Spend time with new-found friends over a hot chocolate, an ice-cream or a glass of Austrian wine or beer.  Mayrhofen is also just over an hour away from the wonderful city of Innsbruck and the spectacular Krimml Waterfalls, the highest in Europe, so there is no excuse for not enjoying yourself.

Sport & Spa Hotel Strass

Located right in the heart of Mayrhofen, our hotel could not be in a better position to enjoy the delights of the town and the region. With a total of four interconnected buildings, this is a grand sized, family hotel, offering excellent service, good food and super facilities. The hotel boasts a lovely outdoor garden area, with stunning views of the mountains and direct access to the covered pool; there is also a superb spa, offering pool, saunas and treatments. Dining is very well catered for; a hearty and healthy expansive breakfast awaits you each morning and delicious dinners consist of varied menus with fresh, seasonal and local produce, as well as Tyrolean specialities and international cuisine.

Activity Barometer – Level 2-5

This holiday is aimed at the active and adventurous but is entirely suitable for almost everyone. Access for those in wheelchairs is limited...but not impossible. Most of the walks involve a reasonable degree of fitness but there are much easier alternatives for those who would not be able for these. Most activities would be a Level 3 to 5 but there are copious opportunities for a less energetic holiday.  If you are unsure, call Alan on 07808366930 or check the website for further information.

Transport to/from Dublin
